Free Consultation

This form must be completed by the potential client, not by a third party.

Consultations are offered subject to attorney availability. As soon as you complete this form, you will be given a link to schedule a free 20-minute session with an available attorney at the next mutually-available time.  Optionally, you may use the payment link presented after submitting this form to obtain an expedited consultation.

Many of the questions are optional, but providing enough detail for the attorney to be able to address all key issues at play (and have some time to think about them) will tend to give you a more satisfying consultation.

Hiring Steven Law Firm to represent you on a criminal matter will require you to post a retainer of at least $5,000. Please check this box to acknowledge that you understand this.

This question is about your preference, and does not commit you to one model of payment or the other.

In civil cases, the goal is usually to pursue a large damages award at trial or reach a satisfactory settlement. The client and attorney must agree on how the attorney is to be paid.  In general, there are two options:

Hourly - You can expect to receive any damages award, minus attorney fees and costs, without sharing a percentage with the attorney. Most of the cases we accept are funded this way.

Contingency - You agree to share a significant percentage of any damages award with the attorney, but you don't have the same up-front costs of hourly attorney fees as in the above.

What type of entity is the opposing party in your case?
Are there significant assets, such as an estate, real property, insurance, intellectual property, or investments involved or at risk if you lose? If so, please list the key items at issue and their approximate value.
Does your opponent possess significant assets, such as an estate, revocable trusts, real property, insurance proceeds, intellectual property, or investments not otherwise involved in this matter? If so, please list the key items and their approximate value.
$ USD

To the extent possible, please estimate how much money the harmful conduct of the party you are considering suing has directly cost you.

Your attorney will determine whether other avenues are available to lower your overall costs. This could include requiring the other side to pay your attorney fees if you win, triple damages, punitive damages, and so on depending on the type of case.

If there is already an open court case, enter the case number here. State case numbers usually start with the last two digits of the year followed by two letters. Federal case numbers often have the ':' symbol and several dashes amongst the letters and numbers.
Please enter the date and time of your next court appearance, if known.
